Float Tank

A Float Tank, also known as a sensory deprivation tank, is meant to be experienced in complete darkness and silence and be cut off from all gravity. One hour of floating is equal to 4 hours of restorative sleep. It reduces cortisol levels back to a productive and normal state. The Float Tank is filled with tons of epsom salt which is a great muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory mineral that also aids in the detoxification of the body. Floating also speeds recovery time after any type of injury while improving the ability to bounce back. It’s an environment where “training of the mind” becomes effortless and takes you into the “theta state” which allows the most creative part of our brain to engage. Floating on a regular basis can also help by balancing a stressed out immune system and so much more!  Visit our Float Tank at our location in Southington CT!

How to prepare for your float session and what to bring

  • Avoid caffeine or any stimulants 4-6 hours before your float.
  • Eat a bit of food 60-90 minutes before your float.
  • Don’t shave the day of your float as shaving can irritate skin which may cause discomfort when getting into the salt water solution.
  • Consider some transition time into your plan. If you’re coming from a long day at work or hurrying through traffic it may leave you feeling frazzled. We encourage you to give yourself enough time to get to the spa without rushing. We also suggest stacking your float with another service to help relax and prepare your mind and body for your float session. Check out our packages!
  • If you wear contact lenses we suggest coming with your glasses or a contact lense case and solution. If salt water gets in your eyes during your float, having contact lenses makes it difficult to rinse water out quickly.
  • Make sure you bring everything you need. Some suggestions include a brush or comb, hair styling products, makeup and deodorant if you’re going out afterwards.
  • No swimsuit is necessary and we supply a private shower with shampoo, conditioner and body soap along with a towel, earplugs, body lotion, bathrobe and slippers if needed, makeup remover wipes, q-tips and vaseline should you need to cover up any small cuts that protect you from the salt water which may burn.
  • Some also plan for a massage after their float session. With your muscle tissue soft, it is more pliable for the massage therapist and requires less time to warm up the tissue before getting into deeper work.
  • Consider committing to at least 3 sessions. The best way to receive all the benefits is to experience floating more than once!
